Vision Inspections
Pro
Collaborative robots, per Universal Robots, are a form of robotic automation built to work collaboratively alongside humans. Unlike industrial robots, which operate behind cages and several different types of safety equipment, collaborative robots work without any form of external safety equipment.
Con
The use of Industrial robots can be very dangerous to both operators and maintenance personal, including robot programmers, because industrial robots are unable to sense people in the operational envelope of the robot’s reach.

Laser Applications with Cobots
Pro
I have been working since 2021 with this cobot in laser cleaning operations. Fanuc has always had a very well know experience in robot operations and this brand offers it with their cobots : - Due to their "cumulative philosophy" knowledge in Fanuc robots, you can find industrial functions into the Cobot. You can exchange your TP tablet for an industrial fanuc Teachpendant ... so industrial robots operator may adapt very fast to this cobot. - Regarding the Tablet teachpendant, you can change between the easy interface for cobot operations and an industrial fanuc robot TP interface. - They have a very good and reactive technical support. - Singularity management is good when arriving to high speed positions. - It is a very good advantage the "underflip" option. No need to do a 180° J1 robot mouvement to achieve back positions ... to Temps Cycle may be shorter. - Obviously, DCS option is already implemented. - You can use the "sliding blocks programming way" to do some algorithms in the robot, so an easier way of programming is available. - The "hand" operation of the robot can be adjusted. You can select the strenght of the cobot doing this manual operation. - The quality of construction is very remarkable. - Fanuc offers complementary technologies as a very good 3d camera, 2d cameras and sensors compatibles with the cobot.
Con
- The tablet application is sometimes slow and not that easy to handle (just talking about the table usage regarding a normal teachpendant) - Everytime the user changes one security parameter, the cobot must be restarted. It takes a lot of time. - This cobot is created mostly for users with experience. Somebody without robot knowledge may have problems using this cobot. You must do the fanuc academy course. - There is not an available cockpit to command the robot by "hand". - New options, updates and complementary bricks must be always paid. Not even the communications bricks are included (i.e. Modbus, profinet, Ethernet, etc). - Even if underflip is a very good advantage, the space between the J2 joint and the J5 joint is very small ... there is a risk of capturing user's fingers during the mouvement. - Not a very opened brand, not available for ROS. Inexistant blog to solve issues in internet as from other brands, you will always need to call fanuc support if you have big issues.

Easy to learn and implement
Pro
I didn't get to use a lot. I was learning about these kind of robots. The beauty of how this robot works really impressed me. The easy programming interface is a plus.
Con
During my learning phase, I did not find any features that I have to dislike or comment.

FANUC CRX was a pleasure to use in Educational Settings
Pro
FANUC developed an updated pendent to use with this robot. The pendent is a Samsung tablet that is lightweight and easy to use.
Con
Not much to dislike, but there was a slight adjustment to learn compared to FANUC’s typical collaborative robot. However, FANUC supplied demonstration videos to answer any questions.
