Stereo Camera Overview
What is Stereo Camera?
Basler Stereo Cameras offer real-time perception for robots, with onboard software and plug-and-play integration. They enable cost-effective 3D vision for tasks like bin picking and navigation in robotics, featuring depth imaging and confidence measurement. Available in 65mm and 160mm baselines, color or monochrome, suitable for various setups.
Features of the Basler Stereo Camera at a glance
Stereo data processing Performance characteristics Plug and play Onboard processing Visual odometry.
Camera image: The left camera delivers the reference image for the image data set.
Depth image: The distance between the camera and the environment is computed through triangulation of the stereo image using the SGM methodology. It serves as input for point cloud generation and 3D reconstruction.
Confidence image: The confidence image shows the confidence in each measured value for further processing steps.
3D Reconstruction: Calculated from the depth image without texture.
The versions of the Stereo Camera feature two different baselines (65 mm, 160 mm) and color or monochrome models.
Stereo Camera 65 color: Its compact size makes it particularly suitable for robot/arm-mounting, e.g. for pick-and-place applications that require color differentiation.
Stereo Camera 65 mono: Its compact size makes it particularly suitable for robot/arm-mounting, e.g. for pick-and-place applications in challenging lighting conditions.
Stereo Camera 160 color: Designed for viewing distances of more than 50 cm. Particularly suitable for static mounting, e.g. in a robot cell, or mobile applications that require color differentiation.
Stereo Camera 160 mono: Designed for viewing distances of more than 50 cm. Particularly suitable for static mounting, e.g. in a work cell, in challenging lighting conditions. Also available in a 6 mm lens variant.
