If you are considering buying a KEYENCE SZ-V series safety scanners, you may want to investigate what peers think about this solution. The use of safety scanners allows for improved safety in industrial environments, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries to workers. The demand for safety scanners has increased due to their ability to enhance the safety of automated systems, while still maintaining efficiency and productivity. Hence the specifications and factors to consider when selecting a safety scanner would be the scanning range, detection accuracy, reaction time, and compatibility with the system it is being used in. Motoman GP50 material handling
Title
Used to guard an entrance for fork truck. Used a second to guard a walk in door.
Pro
Very easy to setup. Setup software easy to use. No problems with programming connectivity. Used software inside a virtual machine with no issue.
Con
Glare from packing tape on boxes caused a problem. Had to move the scanner to deal with that problem. That took some time to solve.

Yaskawa material handling robot cell
Title
A single robot was running with a rotating jig, two parallel cells were running at the same time and the single material-handling robot was used to look after both jigs to pick and place the automotive parts. Had a very large area to cover for human presence and robot presence.
Pro
The most useful and important feature would be the range, it's best at the range covered by this scanner. We had it around the 7.5m range that needed to be covered for our application. it has the too many most useful features, that can make your application/operation safer and mitigate almost all hazards. The ethernet option is there for remote Configuration. The software option is incredible, can actually define a zone you want to cover with this scanner. you can use multiple scanners integrated with the main scanner with display, which is a cost-effective option for covering a larger area. Detection Capability is really great and really impressive, could only detect sharp objects in the covered area, dust, and small slags can be ignored. It has a detachable display unit that can monitor multi scanners at the same time and can be located outside of the cell for always accessible during Autorun. Can modify remotely from anywhere.
Con
Costlier than the other options but if you are thinking of more safety and most useful features to get in the application, it's worth spending money on it!! The protection block or box should be Custom made is an expensive product and you can't risk for display and lenses getting damaged. Had to build a custom protection cover and mounting.
