Title
Basic Machine tending alongside other employees. We wanted a way to help production stay on schedule, as well as complete simple orders while using our capitol for more complex applications. This also has a wide range of applicability, it is small enough and precise enough to complete many different tasks. Simple to integrate, safe to work around employees, and easy to teach others who are interested.
Pro
Our main focus when implementing was safety, this cobot is in close proximity with other machines, parts, and employees so we want to set all at ease when around the cobot. Thankfully, the TM5-900 allows a wide variety of safety implementations, allowing you to change maximum force and speed, as well as setting cartesian limits to stop the robot should it pass a certain area. The software provided by Techman was very easy to use and teach to others, it is a type of block coding that are labeled well for easy to understand steps. The applications for the cobot are vast as most other cobots are, should the payload, size, and reach of the cobot be deemed sufficient, that application should be possible with enough time and effort.
Con
A notable downside is the fact that the Techman TM5-900 does not accept raw code such as G-Code, C++, and python. Although there are plenty of code blocks and possibilities for those blocks, with the use of these programming languages, there are plenty more that you can create. Fortunately enough, at this time Techman is updating their software to address this issue, and this update should be backwards compatible with previous cobots. With safety comes slower movement, while using safety settings as instructed a large amount of speed is lost in the process.
