Title
I had the opportunity to use the COGNEX 8100 barcode reader for a project in one of my classes. The device's ability to scan barcodes at a rate of up to 500 per second with almost 100% accuracy made it a valuable tool for our application. We were able to quickly and efficiently collect data, improving the overall quality of our project. However, the higher price of the device compared to other barcode readers may make it less accessible for some students or smaller projects. Overall, I found the COGNEX 8100 to be an excellent tool for any industrial automation application requiring fast and accurate barcode scanning.

I used it for an XYZ gantry high speed pick and place solutions because it was the standard brand of our customer. I was shocked when I received the price for this 0.3MP device. The Excel like way of programming is difficult to get used to. I will only use it again when the customer requests it

Once you get it working, it runs stable.
The build quality of the hardware is good.
Con
High price for low end specs. The programming environment Cognex Insight looks and feels like it was build in the time of Windows 95. The learning curve is super high.
