Title
We used YuMi in our laboratory to run experiments with two-armed robots. We implemented a block-based programming language for YuMi to make it easier for end-users.
Pro
It is a great, safe, and easy-to-use robot. For professionals, I see YuMi as the best option in the market for two-armed collaborative robots. Our laboratory version comes with the older controller (IRC5), but ABB is trying to bring the new controller to it (OmniCore). If it happens, this will probably be the best robot I have used so far.
Con
As mentioned, our version comes with the old controller and operating system (IRC5). Although it is a solid system for professionals, it does not come with easy-to-use features like ABB Wizard Programming, which I think it is a con. If the target audience is end-users or people without a degree in Engineering, I don't know how easy it would be for them to implement code using YuMi (as the only programming option would be RAPID). Newer versions like GoFa would probably be a better option.

Title
I considered this model as equipment for a research lab.
Pro
This mode by ABB consists of a bi-manual system, which opens for a variety of applications. I found the robot very interesting for research purposes. The cost is appropriate, considering that you get two arms.
Con
The major con is the payload, which is extremely low. You can definitely perform assembly tasks, but it is not appropriate for bi manual manipulation tasks. A pity.

I used the YuMi Cobot during my internship at Coventry University. For upcoming visits, I had to program a short demonstration of the robot's performance. I had a great time and was impressed by two things: the movement's high accuracy and how simple the programming is (I was 15 years old back then).
Pro
The high precision in each movement enabled me to play with it while discovering a great amount of applications, such as screwing and positioning objects.
Con
I didn't dislike any particular aspect.

High precision automatic assembly of connectors
Pro
- Nice and safe design with pleasant material. The overall size of the product is minimized making it easy to implement on existing production lines. - To have 1 camera, 1 griper and 1 vacuum in each hand ! Simply awesome to localize, catch and place the components - The accuracy of each arm, given the 7 axis is really nice. - The speed of movement while remaining safe for humans in the environment
Con
- No easy tool changeover - Flex pendant not enough "user friendly" - Inter-connectivity with feeder systems - Camera software should be as easy to use as the Cobot by itself

Automatic inspection control and packaging
Pro
First point for me the Yumi have a very nice design ! It doesn’t look like another robot. Every one know the velocity of collaborative robot isn’t very high, but Yumi break this problem 2 arms. You can split this cycle time by 2. Further it’s very simple to make the program
Con
The worth point is the weight lifting capacity. In terms of your application it can be a good solution. Another point is for some French company you cannot use this robot in collaborative mode. It’s very difficult for having all the safety point accepted

Title
Line 4.0 with the cobot YUMI
Pro
There was the first experience with a cobot. It was a school project for the year. We learned easily how to use YUMI. In few hours it was done! The cobot is on wheels in a labo so it is easy to move. The programmation to make work the robot is intuitive. You can move the arm separately and program different things at the both. You have the possibility to make move the arm without programmation.
Con
The only con is that the cobot is plug on an electrical outlet so if you haven't any extension it's more difficult to move it.

Collaborative robotics, Impedance shaping
Pro
One of the biggest advantage is that it's a redundant manipulator with 7 degrees of freedom per arm. This enables to achieve constrained motions possible as I call it dextrous manipulation of the arm. This makes possible to reach desired poses while satisfying various physical and dynamical limitations.
Con
Maybe the reach of the robot or the payload that it can handle could be more.

Mostly a Great Experience
Pro
As an engineer student I found the programming of the cobot to be really intuitive once you get the basic training. The grippers are also easily interchangeable. I was able to implement grippers that were 3D printed according to the project's specification and also use grippers from the manufacturer containing a vision system. Thanks to its 7DoF in combination with the dual arm setup provides a good workspace allowing for a variety of implementations. Finally, I found the documentation quite helpful during the different implementations, especially when I encountered problems due to my own mistakes.
Con
When trying to use the external force sensors for an application it felt highly sensitive (which can be a pro or a con depending on the application you want it for). Regarding the documentation, it can feel overwhelming depending on the person and especially the time available. Finally, as far as I remember, the FlexPendant proved to be frustrating at times mainly due to the navigation system.

Easy to use graphically programmable robot with great flexibility and usability. Dual arms each having 7 DOFs provide a wide range of motion.
Pro
- Graphical programming. - Wide motion range. - Integration of multiple tools and sensors. - easy to calibrate and program using different platforms. (ROS and Unity) - Excellent safety features including automated obstacle detection. - flex pendant support and manual motion features.
Con
- Mobility restricted. (Needs a mobile robot to mount and move) - Documentation and user manuals do not explain much.

Collaborative assembly of light switches
Pro
The robot is very accurate and can move quickly while still remaining safe. This is due to the low payload of the cobot.
Con
As far as I know, interlocks have to be programmed manually as with all industrial robots without additional software. This is very time-consuming. The robot arms do not stop or adjust their movements automatically. With CAD information, this cobot should be able to do that better. You need programming skills to program this robot (this is a pro or a con, depending on your background)

Using YuMi in the wrong application
Pro
the Teach Pendant was fairly easy to use in manipulating YuMi, but combining with the Rapid software helped a ton in creating a program. YuMi's speed and dexterity were a huge plus.
Con
It was hard to determine if we were too harsh on YuMi when it would crash. Calibrations were sometimes completely wrecked by a crash and even if you did reset the motor count, positions would still be off. I think this was mostly due to just putting YuMi in the wrong process.
