Title
The RG2 dual Gripper used for CNC Machine Tending using UR Robot . Dual Gripper helps to increase productivity of the entire system. Also the Gripping Force can be adjusted in OnRobot Gripper . On Robot provides plugin software compatible with UR Robot , which helps the programming easier.
Pro
1. The Force can be adjusted for Gripper opening and closing , the workpiece doesn't get damage due to Gripping Force. 2. Dual Gripper concept helps to increase the productivity of the system, 3.inteface with Cobot - On Robot provides additional plugin software which can be installed on most of the Robot brands. In my case we used Universal Robot and the programming was easy after installing the URcap for RG2 grippers, The commands and Force setting and Gripping closing and Opening positions can be controlled using URcap.
Con
1. Not compact size - The RG2 gripper length is more and we faced some difficulty inside CNC machine because of the Gripper size, additional Robot positions added to solve this issue. 2. High Cost : The cost need to be reduced to be competitive in market. Other brand grippers are available with compact size. 3. Technical support, webinars should be provided to the users which help to enhance our product knowledge in On Robot.

UR10 CB3 + OnRobot RG2 Gripper
Title
Used the OnRobot RG2 Gripper as part of developing a packaging application using a collaborative robot. The >100mm stoke was a requirement and the RG2 gripper was a good choice. In order to use with a cobot for a collaborative application, I was also looking for an off-the-shelf gripper solution which meets the safety criteria to comply with the cobot risk assessment without making any modifications.
Pro
110mm stroke. Easy plug-and-play integration with UR robots using URcap. RG2 comes with inherent safety shields. Grip indication to check for grip, lost grip and continuous grip is really helpful. The TCP and payload can be easily configured using automatic calculation. The gripper is safety certified by TUV.
Con
As integrated to UR Robot using URcap any issues with the URCap software (happened after a software update) can affect the operation of the gripper.
