Testimonial
I used these grippers for an application to pickup a soda can. they worked great! the dynamic torque was easy to use. When I had questions my tech support rep was willing to help quickly over the phone. Highly recommended.

Title
Integration of Onrobot 3FG15 Finger Gripper with KAWASAKI KJ155 for precise and complex assembly tasks in automotive manufacturing
Pro
The Onrobot 3FG15 Finger Gripper is a beast of a tool for gripping and manipulating objects in manufacturing environments. The gripper's adaptive fingers and force control capabilities give it the ability to securely grip a wide range of objects with different sizes and shapes, making it an excellent choice for tasks like assembly, pick-and-place, and quality control. One of the great things about this gripper is how easy it is to integrate with different robot brands. In terms of performance the Onrobot 3FG15 Finger Gripper delivers fast and accurate operation that enhances productivity and efficiency in the production line. Its high repeatability and precision ensure consistent quality control, reducing downtime and material waste.
Con
That being said, the gripper isn't without its faults. We've found that it can be a bit finicky to set up and program and there's a bit of a learning curve involved in getting the most out of its features. The gripper's small size can make it difficult to use for larger objects or in environments where space is limited.

Precise machine tending, pick & place, and helpful logic. This gripper allowed us to run machine tasks using smaller parts and tighter spaces, without risking our employees. The gripper held up during large orders and even if they came in contact with something, no major damage was done to the fingertips. With a list of fingertip types, these grippers are great for any application where equal radial force is required.
Pro
Installing the 3FG15 was fairly simple, we simply plugged in the Tool Data Cable to the gripper itself, then to the Onrobot compute box, and connect the compute box back to the robot controller. The datasheets and manuals provided by Onrobot allowed us to start applying the gripper to our programs just as easily. In our case we simply had to import grip functions that fit our use case the best then get started. Furthermore, the gripper is also adjustable, with three length settings, and a list of fingertip types to choose from. The gripper was also extremely precise, allowing us change the force and diameter of each use. Additionally the gripper could sense if it had actually gripped something, it expand/condenses to your desired specifications and then about 1mm more to ensure a stronger grip, as well as to check if it has a successful grip.
Con
While using the 3FG15, we noticed some small issues that can lower the overall uptime of the product. We noticed with our specific applications, the gripper seemed to be too short to reach certain points in the machine. Luckily, we were able to 3D print 2.5" extensions in order to account for the shortcoming, which seemed to work well. We also noticed a recurring issue with the Tool Data Cable that came with the gripper, specifically that it would often become loose and fall out of place. This cable is important as it controls every aspect of the gripper, it gives power, variable data, and resulting data. We never found a sound solution to this issue, we had to readjust the cable and secure it as best as we could each time.
