Title
The Pickit L-HD system was tested with a UR5 robot with an ON-Robot end effector (Two-point Gripper). A consumer product pump was placed below the Pick IT system to allow for detection & teaching. Once a point cloud was produced, the system was taught a pick point for the product. Sample of pumps were used as the product to be picked and placed.
Pro
The camera was really easy to set up. The UI of the Pick IT system is really easy to navigate and use. The learning curve is quite low compared to other systems such as Cognex. The support from Pick IT was good, organised a demo and a training course. Image was quality and point cloud resolution was good for most tasks.
Con
System struggled with more complex parts, this could be due to the ambient lighting at the testing site. The system didn't allow the user to modify as much setting as Cognex which was used a baseline in these steps. Had some issues implementing with an Allen Bradley PLC at the time of testing - could be fixed by now.
