2-finger Adaptive Electric Robot Gripper by Robotiq

Solution

This flexible electric robot gripper can be used as the single end-of-arm tool (EOAT) to pick several different parts. The fingers mechanically adapt to do parallel grip, encompassing grip or ID grip. Partial opening and closing of the finger is possible for fast cycle time. The force is also controlled to pick parts that are fragile. All the main standard industrial protocols are supported and the programming is straightforward. The end effector is used in applications such as light assembly, part sorting, kitting and part transfer. Several manufacturing sectors benefit from it including automotive parts, life science and consumer goods .

Increased efficiency in doubled machine tending capacity

Problem

Portas Euro-Rapid manufactures fittings and couplings to join pipes together. Mechanical flaws slowed machine operations, causing a lot of downtime with limited personnel available to fix issues.

Solution

Integrating Robotiq 2F-140 Adaptive Grippers and Universal Robots UR10 to each machine allowed each employee to take care of three machines.

Outcome

Now their machines run full-time and production capacity has doubled. Able to manufacture more parts and deliver even more efficiently.
