TOKYO ROBOTICS TOROBO ARM Specifications
Ranked Nr. 95 of 210 Cobots
The Tokyo Robotics Torobo Arm is a humanoid robot designed for research in industrial automation and human-robot interaction. With a height of 1660 mm and a reach of 680 mm, the Torobo Arm is built to mirror human dimensions, making it well-suited for tasks traditionally performed by humans. Each arm of the robot can handle up to 8 kg in the worst-case posture and up to 20 kg at maximum force, which allows it to perform tasks requiring significant strength and precision, such as assembly or material handling.
One of the standout features of the Torobo Arm is its sophisticated joint configuration, which includes 7-axis dual arms, a 3-axis waist, a 3-axis neck, and a 4-axis undercarriage. This enables the robot to perform a wide variety of tasks with a range of motion comparable to that of a human. Additionally, the robot is equipped with torque sensors at all arm and waist joints, enabling advanced impedance control and safe interaction with both humans and the environment. This makes it particularly suitable for tasks that involve physical contact, such as assembly, cooking, or medical procedures like ultrasound imaging.
The Torobo Arm is also designed with research and development in mind, being fully compatible with the Robot Operating System (ROS). This allows researchers to easily implement and test new algorithms using simulation tools like Gazebo and control software like MoveIt!. The robot’s software includes capabilities like Cartesian impedance control, fall prevention, and state visualization, making it a powerful tool for exploring next-generation robotics applications and machine learning integration.
